Jackie got into a car wreck in 1996. Ever since then, she has been suffering from debilitating migraines almost daily. Imagine suffering from migraines for 20 YEARS!

When Jackie came to see us, she suffered 3 to 4 migraines a week that lasted a day or more.

She had sharp pains that ran through her head and behind her eyes,
all the way around her skull and towards the middle of her head.

“I didn’t enjoy life anymore.”

Jackie told us that this pain affected every single aspect of her life, from her interactions with her loved ones and to raising her daughter. She was hospitalized twice with this intense pain.

Her daughter didn’t even enjoy spending time with her due to her condition. Her daughter was the reason why she gave us a call.

When she came into our office, she felt uplifted and welcomed like a family!

We diagnosed Jackie with occipital neuralgia, a condition most likely caused by her accident in 1996. Occipital neuralgia occurs when the occipital nerves, that run from the spinal column up through the scalp becomes entrapped and confined due to muscle tightness and injury.

Dr. Johnston performed dry needling on Jackie to reduce the swelling and tightness around the nerves behind her head.

As Dr. Johnston worked with her, she began feeling a real difference in the severity and duration of her migraines after 2-3 weeks.

Jackie told us that everyone noticed the difference, especially her daughter!

Jackie’s migraines have been reduced to only 1 to 2 a month, and we are planning on continuing to reduce that until she is permanently pain free!

If you know someone that suffers from migraines and have accepted it as just life, have them give us a call!
