Chiropractic Adjustment

The Chiropractic Adjustment

One of the mainstays of the chiropractor toolset is the chiropractic adjustment.

This practice involves our chiropractor, Dr. Johnston, manually manipulating the vertebrae of your spine. This helps to mobilize the vertebrae that may be causing pain. Chiropractic adjustments help patients not only feel better right away, but often lead to better long term wellness.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

A damaged muscle will often tense up to protect itself from being injured again.

This can cause ischemia (lack of blood flow), which causes limited function of the muscle and pressure on local nerves. Dry needling involves inserting a small, solid needle into the knotted muscle. Once inserted, it causes a relaxing local twitch response from the muscle, and creates a controlled lesion in the area. Your body considers this a threat, rushing to protect it using blood and inflammation, the primary healers of the body.

How it works
Soft Tissue Massage

With 70% of your body being soft tissue, massage is essential in treating pain.

Lack of blood flow (ischemia) is often the cause of muscle pain. A muscle that has become injured is tight and doesn’t allow sufficient blood to flow in the area in order to heal itself. Soft tissue massage gets blood flowing back into the muscle so that it can heal! Using soft tissue massage Dr. Johnston helps to reduce the compression on local nerves by loosening the muscle to bring healing blood and inflammation back into it!

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is the use of laser energy to generate a photo-chemical response within damaged tissue.

Laser therapy accelerates your body’s natural healing process through photo-bio-stimulation through the skin and tissue, resulting in an increase in elastin and collagen, two builders of tissue. Laser therapy provides concrete benefits to our patients in both pain management and internal healing and is effective in treating chronic and acute conditions and post-surgical pain.
